Michigan FOREtheWIN Recap
November 2 was such an incredible night at our much anticipated Michigan Region FOREtheWIN Workforce Development Challenge!
We started off with a dinner of fajitas and a discussion on the industry with GMA president Andrew Schall. Before heading out to the bays to golf and network, Joe Carte with SPC gave a special presentation that the students thoroughly enjoyed.
We had almost 40 students participating from eleven local schools and programs:
- Brighton High School
- Ferris State University
- Franklin High School
- Insuring Change
- Michigan State University
- Oakland Schools Technical Campus Northwest
- Oakland Schools Technical Campus Southeast
- Oakland Schools Technical Campus Southwest
- Southline East High School
- Troy High School
- West Bloomfield High School
Six member companies sponsored bays and sent representatives to meet with the students:
- ColorPoint Print
- EGT | An RRd Company
- Foresight Group
- Heidelberg
- Millcraft
- Specialty Print Communications (SPC)
The evening certainly made an impression on both our members, who left with student resumes and potential employees, and our students, who left with an eagerness for more conversations with print industry leaders. At the conclusion of our "speed networking" event, the students were able to secure a victory over the member companies with a score of 519 to 500.
Thank you to all who attended, and to our generous sponsors for their commitment to the next generation of print.
